Not to be confused with Toyota's FJ80 SUV, “80-series” in BMW parlance refers to the fifth-generation M3 sedan and M4 coupe, whose chassis codes are F80 and F82, respectively. The first M cars to use different chassis codes than the models they're based on, educated speculation indicates the expected M4 convertible will use F83; should BMW see fit to make a long-roof M3 (don't hold your breath), it will get the F81 tag.
